Hey there! I recently stumbled upon a life-changing concept that is worth sharing with you all. Imagine, if just for a moment you could hit pause on your life. What if you could stop the whirlwind of thoughts and endless to-dos, and truly be present? This idea resonated with me deeply and here I am penning my thoughts down to share with you.
Hit The Brakes. PAUSE!
How many of us are guilty here of letting our mind wander away when a friend or a family member was sharing something excitedly, and instead of being fully engaged knowingly or unknowingly we mentally disconnected from the conversation? Frankly, I can raise my hand and say I am guilty. This realization hit me hard when my 7-year-old son was excited about sharing something from his football session. I lost eye contact and picked up my phone to look at who just texted me. He stopped all of a sudden. I could sense pin-drop silence in the room all of a sudden. Did I do something wrong? and I realized that all this while, he was waiting for my response but I had lost track of the conversation already. Sad, isn't it?
This is where the power of "Pause" comes into play. Every letter that comprises the spelling PAUSE- has a much deeper meaning to it. So let's dig into these 5 powerful yet easy ways to build deeper relationships and connections.
Number 1: The Power Of P- Be "Present"
It's about truly being in the moment, not just physically but mentally and emotionally. It's about consciously being able to really tune yourself into hearing and understanding what the other person is communicating to you. Being present means giving our full attention, and making others feel seen and valued.
"Being Present" is not only applicable to communication but you would find value when dealing with situations. Let's take an example: you need to respond to a "not so comfortable" conversation - how would you handle it? The best thing is before jumping into a situation, take a moment to prepare. Take a deep breath and think before you speak. It's about being mindful and collecting your thoughts before you respond.
Number 2: The Power Of A- "Appreciation"
A is for Appreciation. It's amazing how a small act of appreciation can transform a relationship. I started leaving small Thank you sticky notes for all those colleagues who would help me when needed. It's amazing how it transformed my relationship with them. It made me realize the power of acknowledging others, even if it is in a very small way. Whether it's a genuine compliment or a simple "thank you", showing appreciation can deepen our connections.
Number 3: The Power Of U- "Understanding"
U stands for Understanding. This step is all about truly listening, not just waiting for your turn to speak. It's like being a detective, but instead of solving mysteries, you're exploring someone's feelings and thoughts. I vividly recall a conversation with my sister that really opened my eyes. She was going through a tough time, and instead of jumping in with advice or my own thoughts, I simply listened. I asked open-ended questions and let her share whatever was on her mind. It was a humbling experience, and it helped me see things from her perspective. For the first time, I felt like I genuinely understood what she was going through. It deepened our connection and made me realize the power of truly listening."
Number 4: The Power Of S- "Support"
S is for Support. Whether it's offering practical help or simply being there for someone, support strengthens our bonds. I think of my mom, who always knew how to make my favorite comfort food when I was feeling down. It's those little acts of support that make us feel loved and understood.
Number 5: The Power Of E- "Elevate"
Lastly, E stands for Elevate. This is about setting intentions to inspire and uplift others. It's about going the extra mile to show someone their value and potential. I love sending surprise notes to my friends, reminding them of their strengths and the positive impact they have on others. It not only uplifts them but also brings me joy.
So my dear readers, lets embrace PAUSE. Practice being present, showing appreciation, understanding others, offering support, and elevating your interactions. It doesn't have to be perfect or all at once, but even small steps can make a big difference. Let's transform our connections and create deeper, more meaningful relationships, one pause at a time.
My dear readers, I would love to hear how you have used P.A.U.S.E in your life to transform to a more mindful way of living. Comment and share and spread the light.
With Much Love and blessings,
Mama HealthNut
